Bloomberg reports that Amazon Game Studios has officially pulled the plug on a Lord of the Rings online role-playing game.
Remember that Amazon and Leyou-owned Athlon Games announced the project two years ago, in 2019.The company had intended to release a free-to-play PC and console game, but the project has now been shelved.

The Lord of the Rings MMO game was to be set “long before the events of The Lord of the Rings, exploring lands, people, and creatures never seen before by fans of the Tolkien universe.”
In December, Leyou was gained by Tencent Property and an Amazon representative presently told The Edge in an email articulation that the organization “couldn’t tie down terms to continue with this title as of now.”Additionally, the company stated that the LOTR team would work on other games.The spokesperson stated, “We are disappointed that we will not be bringing this game to customers.
Since its inception in 2014, Amazon Game Studios has failed to produce a successful video game.The company has previously delayed and cancelled a number of other games.
